COMING
UP -
2009 CONGRESS IN JANUARY TO FOCUS ON THE WORD OF
GOD.
|
January
23 to 25, 2009 - 19th Annual Flame Congress: The
Word and The Prophets of a New Age.
|
|

|
Not
planned in advance, it has become clear now,
that Pope Benedict's message at WYD-08 regarding
Apostles and Prophets of a New Age, and the
conclusion of the synod on "The Word of God in
the Life and Mission of the Church", affirms
the Arise Joshua Congress last January, and
launches us powerfully into, "The Word and the
Prophets of a New Age" Congress over the
weekend of 23 to 24 January 2009.

Pontiff
Says Word of God is Church's Priority - Affirms
Scripture is Key for
Evangelization
VATICAN CITY, OCT. 26, 2008 (Zenit.org)
Benedict XVI says the priority for the Church
today is above all to nourish itself with the Word
of God, so as to bring forward the new
evangelization.
The Holy Father insisted various times on the
importance of the link between hearing the Word and
evangelization, as a fundamental point of the
testimony of Christians around the world,
especially with nonbelievers.
"Many people are seeking, perhaps without
realizing it, to encounter Christ and his
Gospel; many need to find in him the meaning of
their lives," the Pontiff said. "To give a clear
and shared testimony of a life according to the
Word of God, demonstrated by Jesus, is therefore an
indispensable criteria for verifying the mission of
the Church.
"It is necessary for the faithful to have wide
access to sacred Scripture so that people,
finding the truth, can grow in authentic love. This
is an indispensable requisite today for
evangelization."
THE
CONGRESS THEME.
The
theme and thrust of the Congress will focus on The
Word of God, that was conceived for the Congress
before the synod on the Bible was convened, Saint
Paul, and the WYD message chosen by Pope
Benedict.
As a "Ministry of the Word; Feeding the Poor
in Spirit" we are very excited with this
direction of the synod, and will be taking up the
call; a call that is the foundation of Flame
Ministries International, and therefore, it is
close to our heart and the substance of our
apostolate: "Sharing Jesus Christ with the world
in the spirit of Ad Gentes, Evangelii Nuntiandi,
Dei Verbum and The New Evangelization."
2008 is also a 20 year landmark FMI. The Set
My People on Fire prophecy and the subsequent Set
My People on Fire seminars were revealed on
Christmas Eve 1989 that established FMI as a,
"Ministry of the Word" in early 1990. Its
foundation raised up the office of the
Evangelist/Preacher/Teacher of the fivefold
ministries appropriate for lay preachers in the
ancient tradition of the Church. 2010, will be
the 20th Anniversary of the foundation of Flame
Ministries International.
THE
THREE AREAS OF FOCUS FOR THE CHURCH DURING
2008/2009 ARE:
The
Year of Saint Paul, The Prophets and Apostles of a
New Age, and The Word of God.
The 19th Annual Flame Congress will bring these
three magnificent themes together over another Holy
Spirit Power-Packed Weekend. All the speakers are
well versed in these themes with knowledge and
personal experience, and so this congress will
bring together both Word and Flesh.

REPORT: JANUARY 2008 ARISE CONGRESS.
|

|
ARISE:
A Trumpet Call to a Joshua Generation, sounded loud
and clear.
Trumpeters
of the Word: Archbishop B J Hickey. Eddie
Russell FMI.
David Harp FMI. Scott Kaldahl. Derek
Williams.
|
|

|
The Congress established that a JOSHUA GENERATION
have a natural mantle of leadership deep within
their character, and have a natural desire to go
and make disciples of all nations. They are aware
that the mantle of Jesus by the Holy Spirit equips
them to do the works of Christ.
The Arise Congress aimed to mark 2008 as the
year that birthed a J-Generation.
Judging by the responses and reactions of the
delegates, one could easily accept that as a fact.
Eddie Russell said that, "J-Geners are young bold
and visionary Catholics (and all Christians)
unafraid of a positive Word of God message to their
peers; they are movers and shakers and unafraid to
share the Gospel."
The thrust of the Congress was to raise the
vision of Perth youth as trendsetters for Jesus,
and by their example, inspire youth at WYD to
become J-Geners in their own countries.
In his session, Eddie said that some of the
characteristics of a Joshua Generation displayed
the following qualities;
8
The
Joshua Generation have zeal for the salvation of
souls
8
They
are a leaven for integrity in the workforce and
business dealings without compromise
8
They
are Bible believing, and Word acting
8
Help
others to succeed and do better than
themselves
8
Faithful
to the Pope, Church teaching and the Mass
8
Bold
in their faith
8
Courageous
in acting on faith
8
People
of vision
8
Unashamed
of Jesus no matter the cost
8
Are
the Kingdom of God on earth wherever they are
and demonstrate its goodness
8
They
are aware that wherever they place their foot
they are consecrating the ground and claiming it
for Jesus
8
More
than conquerors in all things
8
Over-comers;
they forgive quickly, face up to problems and
find positive solutions
8
Support
those weaker than themselves
8
Respect,
listen to, learn from, and show honor to the
elderly as their mentors
8
Mentors
to the young
8
Support
the poor
8
The
Joshua Generation oppose injustice without
violence, and use lawful means to change unjust
laws
8
None
Judgmental
8
Lovers
of God's truth and expose falsehood with
love
8
Study
the Bible to live by the Word
8
Pray
daily or unceasingly
8
Seek
personal excellence as well as in their dealings
with others
8
Wear
tasteful sacramentals even at the risk of
ridicule or rejection
8
Seek
after God's wisdom
8
Share
the Gospel gently and do not answer questions
they do not know the answers to
8
Seek
to be humble and can admit the good about
themselves
8
Desirous
of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit in order to
serve and build the Body of Christ
8
Not
afraid of wealth and success in order to bless
others and support full time ministers
At
the closing rally, and on the inspiration of Eddie,
Scott Kaldahl called for people to step forward to
receive the Joshua anointing as he read out the
list of characteristics.
As people identified with aspects of the list, they
stood at the front of the stage prayerfully
immersed in the Holy Spirit. Once prayer for the
anointing began, it manifest in glory, and one
after another, people fell to the ground under the
power of the Holy Spirit.
The Congress recognized that there are youth
(and people of all ages) everywhere already
showing these J-Generation characteristics and
more, but as yet do not have a name for it. Once
listed and named, the Congress expected that
Catholic youth and all Christian youth with these
active qualities would identify, arise and become a
spiritual army in all spheres; they would be a new
generation overcoming the giants of the
anti-Christian spirit prevailing today.
The J-Generation; The Joshua Generation! It is
connected to the J for Jesus; Joshua; Yeshua;
Iesus; Jesus. Another way to put this is, the Jesus
Generation that are the reapers of the final
harvest and "Apostles and Prophets of a New Age" as
Pope Benedict then called them at WYD-08 later in
the year.

Young people preparing to attend
WYD-08 stand at the front of the stage
to receive their Joshua Anointing.
The fundamental object of ARISE was to
prepare pilgrims for World Youth Day.
Not only did the youth receive a fresh
anointing, but everyone was caught up
in the Spirit of God.
|

Scott
Kaldahl leads a worship session
at a rally. Scott's passion in the Lord
is worship. His session, Coming back
to the Heart of Worship, expressed his
love for the Lord and his desire that all
God's people can experience the power
of deep praise and worship.
|

Delegates
of all ages responded to the call.
Right, Archbishop Hickey talks to a WYD
pilgrim.
|

|
|
|
|
|
|
The
concept of time light slowing down, and time running out,
was affirmed by Archbishop Hickey's magnificent message,
"Look up. The fields are white, ready for the
harvest."
In his message, the Archbishop emphasized the thrust
of the Congress referring to the urgent need for
evangelization in an antichrist world; a challenge that was
met with enthusiasm, especially by the youth - Once the call
was offered, they surged forward to receive the Holy Spirit
in conformity with the WYD theme; "You shall receive
power when the Holy Spirit come upon you."
The ARISE congress imparted that power as the delegates
received the same Baptism in the Holy Spirit as did the
disciples at the first Pentecost.

Solemn
Commitment Mass for Flame Members at Arise
Congress.
|
|

FMI Founder and Senior Director, Mr. Eddie
Russell FMI explains the commitment to members and
calls them to fulfill their chosen area of
service.
|
DURING
THE SUNDAY MASS celebrated by Rev Father Brian
O'Loughlin, Vicar General of the Archdiocese of
Perth Western Australia, Flame members made solemn
vows of commitment that were accepted by Father
Brian "In the name of the Roman Catholic Archbishop
of Perth, The Most Rev Barry Hickey, and in the
name of the Roman Catholic Church," and who by this
means formally inducted them into Flame Ministries
International under its constitution, canons, and
norms.
As a Public Association of Christ's Faithful
(Canon 301 and Canon 300) it is important
that members of Flame Ministries International
understand their status, and obligation to live as
disciples of Christ to the best of their ability
according to their state of life, and to fulfill
their duties in the organization to the best of
their ability. Daily prayer, especially for all
members and benefactors, regular Bible study,
attending the sacraments and the weekly Cathedral
Praise Meeting is part of each member's ongoing
spiritual growth.
|
|
Because
Flame Ministries' mission is by and large, to build
the Church rather than its own numbers, it does
not solicit general public membership into itself.
Therefore, each member has a specific role and duty
that they sense as a calling of the Spirit to
fulfill in the service of Christ, and to foster the
vision in support of FMI as a ministry of the
evangelist/preacher: Flame Ministries is a
preaching ministry doing the work of the evangelist
- See, What
on Earth is a Catholic
Evangelist.
The general public partake in FMI's vision through
its seminars, conferences, and especially weekly
attendance at the Cathedral Praise Meeting
(CPM)
and or, by joining Friends
of Flame.
Membership in FMI happens only by requesting and
Application Form that contains the terms and
expectations of the ministry, a copy of the
constitution and other relative information. The
applicant is expected to read it carefully in
prayer, after which they state the area of service
in which they desire to participate by filling out
and signing the form.
Up to and during this period, they are expected to
graduate the Set My People on Fire Seminars
that are an obligatory requirement for all members.
During the 16 weeks of the seminars, they are asked
only to hang around and help, a "Come follow me"
approach in the manner of Jesus.
|

Flame members read out their vows
at the Congress Mass.
|
This no-obligation time, allows them to get close to the
organization and its members, and facilitates a discernment
process for them. It also allows the Senior Directors time
to discern the genuineness and sincerity of the prospective
applicant.
Once an application form is tendered, the Senior
Directors take the matter to a time of prayer and discussion
for whatever period is deemed necessary on an individual
basis. During this time, the Moderators responsible for that
particular area are consulted and actively participate in
the prayer and discernment process.
During this period, the applicant will have a minimum of
one meeting with the Senior Directors to determine the
validity of motives, explain their expectations and
obligations, and to ask questions. If needed, more time is
given, and another meeting arranged before an application is
accepted.
Recognizing that original enthusiasms can wane, that
life's circumstances change, and that some things are only
for a season, the first application is for one year only,
after which a further one year commitment can be applied
for. Once two consecutive years are complete, the member
can choose to continue on a one year basis, or apply for a
two year period. After serving two years, the member can
apply for a further two, or a five year period. Once a five
year period has been served, the member can apply for a
lifetime commitment.
In certain circumstances, a lifetime commitment can be
made at any time at the sole discretion of the Senior
Directors. This is especially so regarding the
appointment and commissioning of an Evangelist, who by
virtue of that office, preaches in the name of the Church,
and thus recognized, cannot be commissioned on an ad-hoc or
temporary basis. To this end, Flame Ministries acknowledges
the clear distinction between someone with a gift of giving
teachings, sharing faith, and that of the office of
Evangelist/Preacher/Teacher as part of the fivefold
Ministries.
At
this Mass, all active members were called to make a fresh
commitment vow of obedience, so that everyone began their
new tenure at the same time.
|

Vicar
General, Father Brian O'Loughlin gives the solemn
blessing after accepting vows in the name
of the Archbishop of Perth, and the "Roman
Catholic Church."
|
SHORTLY,
each member will be presented with a silver and
gold Ministry Cross designed by FMI Founder,Eddie
Russell, that demonstrates that they have taken
vows to FMI and the Church. The Senior Directors
will continue wearing the original silver crucifix
of the Order of Saint John of God that was gifted
to them through the late Sister Baptista, a dear
friend of the authors of the Set My People on Fire
Seminars.
Because the constitution states that FMI can 'adopt
a uniform'
(habit),
the
Ministry Crosses worn on the left pocket area will
serve to fulfill the constitutional mandate at this
point in time.

NEW
AND EXCITING PROJECTS:
|
v
Two
New Flame Media Evangelization Projects Underway:
FIRECAST-FMI and FMITV.
|
There is no doubt these days, that the Internet is the
new mission-field for evangelization: Podcasting,
iTunes, Videocasting, YouTube, MySpace, Facebook, and a host
of media and social networking facilities are changing the
way people communicate and associate, and they cater for
every social norm and culture around the world.
Flame Ministries has had an Internet presence since Eddie
saw its potential in early 1997. Knowing little or
nothing at the time, he established the Flame web site and
registered the flameministries.org domain name. Eddie saw
the Internet as a "Window to the world" and recognized its
potential for global outreach in away that had not been done
before. His foresight proved to be true, and back in 1997
Flame were one of the very, very few Christian sites on the
Net. It was certainly the best of whatever was
available.
It was in no small part, that the web site made FMI known
far and wide as interest in the Internet grew. Now it is
time for us to move into new cyber territory as part of the
FMI vision.
|

|
INTRODUCING
FIRECAST-FMI: The Podcast with
Fire.
A little behind the 8-Ball with Podcasting and
online video these days, FMI are now catching up
and presenting quality material both in audio and
visual productions. Namely, FMITV and FIRECAST-FMI.
Through these means, and taking advantage of so
many free social networking and broadcasting sites,
FMI are entering the market with what we aim to be,
top quality productions.
|
Damien
Doherty has taken on this ministry task, and with the
assistance of Patrick Carre, will produce one podcast each
Sunday through iTunes and the Flame web site. With top
quality sound and production in a radio style format, it is
anticipated that, given the way iTune fans log on and
search, that FIRECAST-FMI will attract a regular subscriber
following.
WE INVITE YOU TO CHECK IT RIGHT NOW. If you are not
with iTunes, you can go directly to the FIRECAST web site
and listen to these inspiring teachings at your leisure. Go

INTRODUCING
VIDEOCASTS
ON THE FMI YOU-TUBE CHANNEL; FMITV.
|

|
FMI have filmed Flame seminars and
congresses, but due to unavailability of
skilled video editors that can handle 60 minute
productions, most have not been completed. However,
10 minute clips have been more practical in the
short term, and so a channel on You Tube has been
established that will have a variety of clips from
Set My People on Fire, Flame Music Ministry, and
whatever a creative mind
|
can
achieve.
These
clips, as with Firecast-FMI, will also be embedded into this
site with a dedicated FMITV page where archival links will
allow you to follow ongoing series at your convenience.
Currently, videos are available on the Missions
Calendar Page
along with Millar Lo's productions for WYD. To see videos on
the FMITV YouTube Channel go to www.youtube.com/fmitv
THE
FUTURE OF FREE TO AIR TELEVISION. DOES IT HAVE ONE, AND HOW
DOES FMI FIT IN?
There is no doubt that reports from professional media
watchers have got it right when predicting that free to air
stations will be experiencing a major rethink. - Alternate
forms of broadcasting and viewer preference dominate the
debates and the ever sought after, advertising dollars.
Consumers seem to prefer choice and convenience.
Market leader iTunes Podcast and Video-Cast has met this
need very well. It is this evolution that has motivated
FMI's Damien Doherty to develop FIRECAST-FMI, and in due
course, move FMI into iTunes Video-Casting.
Perhaps the most popular public video broadcasting
community at the moment is YouTube. Beginning with
amateur clips by just about anyone with a web-cam and a fast
connection, its popularity and amateur content has morphed
in the same way the Internet did around 15 years ago, and
now attracts professionals and advertisers eager to get out
there and mix it amongst the fans.
Hollywood has not been slow on the uptake with its film
trailer promotions. Because it has the resources,
Hollywood is setting the standard on small movie video
quality. I am sure this will challenge other YouTube
producers to match it or loose it. Let's hope this does not
muscle out those tatty, but often very funny web-cam videos
that reveal a real and very different creative talent not
seen before. This also applies to the many amateurs that
share their faith with the rest of the world.
As Free-to-Air and Pay-TV fragments into specialised
content, it not only makes it more difficult for commercial
advertising, but also for those in the ministry of Telly
Evangelizing. Most, if not all Christian broadcasting on
commercial television seeks out the cheaper midnight-to-dawn
slots (that have since been snapped up by those painfull
and boring infomercials), as well as community stations
to avoid the huge costs of covering daily broadcasts.
The only exception I know of is the initiative of
Archbishop Hickey who broadcasts a short message on
prime-time news segments on Perth stations. You
can see his podcasts on the Archdiocesan web site
here.

Study: Internet and TV attract same users
By
Emily Chang
Watch television much? Then you're probably a heavy
internet user as well, according to a study by Nielsen's
new TV/Internet Convergence Panel.
The panel found that the heaviest users of the internet
were also likely to be the ones who watch the most
television. Not surprisingly, those who watched TV the
least were also the least frequent internet users.
Nielsen also found evidence that many people are using
the internet and watching TV at the same time. According
to the study's findings, nearly 31 percent of in-home
internet usage occurred while the user was also watching
TV. Nearly 60 percent of all panelists and more than 80
percent of those who both used the internet and watched
TV did these activities simultaneously.
While teens were the most likely to be simultaneous
users, adults aged 35 to 54 years old spent the most
number of minutes watching TV and using the internet at
the same time.
Nielsen's sample included almost 3,000 people in more
than 1,000 households.
It
seems expedient therefore, to hearken to the industry media
watchers regarding the future of broadcasting in general.
Whereas television generally reaches the local
community, anyone searching YouTube know that clips can
attract viewers in the 100's of 1000's over a global
audience. This potential should not be ignored. - With the
right web marketing and search-ability techniques, WebTV has
the ability to reach a large and loyal audience, and best of
all, it is free and always on demand either on your laptop
or your iPod.
FMITV AND FIRECAST-FMI ARE TARGETING THIS GLOBAL
AUDIENCE.
With this in mind, FMI are wading into the Internet
broadcast market with FMITV and FIRECAST-FMI as well as
Facebook. - Evangelization is always where the people are,
and we want to reach as many as possible through the
ever-growing social networking communities on the Internet.
The first Podcast alone had over 1000 listeners within the
first week according to our site-trackers, and that is a
very good start.

It's
Faith Jim - Four Chapters to be published in
British Press.
|
BRITISH JOURNALIST, James Hastings in partnership with
author, Eddie Russell, has written abridged versions of four
chapters of the Eddie book, It's Faith Jim, But not as we
know. The chapters that cover the personal faith and human
interest segments of the book will be published in the
Catholic Times, England, in the lead up to Christmas.
James chose chapters that address what he sees as a crisis
of faith in the English churches, and the penchant for
people to seek solace for the future in the horoscope.
Eddie's powerful conversion story and addiction to
horoscopes before becoming Catholic feature strongly in the
articles that show readers a better way to find hope in
difficult times.
It is anticipated that should the articles prove popular in
the Catholic Times, James will look at syndicating them
through other media publications.

Because Saint Mary's Cathedral has been closed due to
the major reconstruction to complete the building, we have

Centre at 450 Hay Street, Perth. The start time also remains
at 7.45 pm every Thursday evening.

|
|
Over
the past few months FMI have hosted
several successful events at the St.
Mary's Cathedral Praise Meeting
(CPM).
The weekly meetings continue to flow in
the power of the Holy Spirit, but the
Lord's Prayer, The Holy Spirit & His
Anointing seminars, the one night visits
of Jude Antoine and James "Butch' Murphy,
were special highlights that attracted
people from all over the metro area.
|
|
THE
LORD'S PRAYER SEMINARS WERE A REVELATION TO MOST:
Perhaps
the best way to sum up the Lord's Prayer Seminar, is to let
John Bosco of the Holy Trinity Community in Masaka, Uganda,
tell of his experience:
|
"God spoke in my life when Eddie explained the
Kingdom of God; that it is God's desire for me
to live and experience his kingdom in this life. I
took that word and made it my prayer every day. I
testify that I had some spiritual battles that
weighed me down, but since I heard that word and
called on the Kingdom to come, there has been a
great change. Plus the wonders I saw with my eyes
at The Lord's Prayer Conference; the lame that
walked, the girl that was blind and cured, and
others healed, and I really felt that the Kingdom
of God had come on earth." - Experiencing the
actual power of this prayer and the coming of the
Kingdom was the same at the CPM seminars.
|

|
THE HOLY SPIRIT AND HIS ANOINTING
A
WONDERFUL EVOLUTION OF GRACE:
Originally planned as an eight session seminar, it finally
concluded after eleven weeks of unfolding revelation. It was
as though the more that was revealed, the Holy Spirit
revealed even more; the information and anointing flowed
like the Ezekial River week after week and concluded with a
manifestation of the Baptism of Fire.
|

|
All
11 x 80 minute sessions are available as composite
boxed CD set. The subjects include: The Purpose
of the Anointing. The Power of the Anointing.
Recognizing the Anointing. Water and How the
Anointing Increases. The Oil. The Oil and The
Lampstand. The Order of the Anointing. God is
Revealed by Fire. The Ten Virgins and Trimming of
the Wicks. The origin of the Baptism of Fire.
Prayer for the Baptism of Fire.

SET
MY PEOPLE ON FIRE: ONLY
ONE IN 2008.
Due
to such a busy schedule in 2007, and the upcoming events and
programs in 2008, especially World Youth Day and its pre-WYD
programs, and then its post-WYD events that directly
effected Flame Music Ministry and Eddie, it was decided to
hold only one Set My People on Fire seminar this year.
|

|
Held
at The Holy Family Parish in Como, Perth WA, from
February through to May, it was a wonderful time of
grace and fellowship for everyone.
The seminar attracted a wide age group, but it
especially attracted young people that had
experienced the Arise: Joshua Generation Congress.
The youth present were from, True Love Waits, Youth
With a Mission (YWAM), NET Australia,
as well as others. This seminar was another time of
empowering and formation in the The Word of God in
their preparation for WYD; it had a significant
impact on everyone attending.
|
|

|
As
our readers know, Set My People on Fire was
conceived by the Holy Spirit on Christmas Eve 1989
through prophecy. It was first presented in
early 1990, and gained ecclesial approval by the
late Archbishop Foley, and then by Archbishop
Hickey who publicly referred to is as, "an
excellent source of Biblical teaching, especially
as a living experience of the Word of God for the
participants."
IN FEBRUARY 2009, SMPOF will take up the spirit
and challenge of the Synod, "The Word of God in the
Life and Mission of the Church."
Considering the thrust of the upcoming Word of
God Congress and the heart of Pope Benedict
expressed the recent Synod, Set My People on Fire
will begin in early February. The venue and dates
for this seminar will be announced on the
Missions
Calendar Page
as details are finalized.

OVERSEAS
MISSION FOR 2009
UGANDA has become a special place for FMI over the past
few years. During those missions, we have seen many
miracles and conversions, but more than that, it has seen
the bonds of friendship grow throughout the country from
Entebbe in its eastern gateway on Lake Victoria, to Kasese
in the west seated on the Congo border.
Due to a lack of funding, FMI was not able to accept
invitations for 2008, but after discussions with Fred
Mawanda in late October, Eddie accepted an invitation to be
there in May 2009. This mission will be for at least three
weeks and cover several districts.
WE WISH TO BE BOLD THEREFORE.
The final dates, length of mission and itinerary will be
decided later. In the meanwhile, we acknowledge that a
mission to Uganda will not be possible without the financial
support of others like you.
|
|
We wish to be bold therefore, and in spite
of these troubling economic times, ask that you
consider donating to the success of this mission.
We cannot offer you much in return except our
gratitude and prayers. We do this in the certain
knowledge that you will be blessed by God's
promises regarding his richness in Christ that he
will render to you in all generosity. If you want
to donate other than through PayPal, contact us by

and we will tell you how.

Cheryle
Douglas appointed Regional Officer for Melbourne,
Victoria.
|
|

|
A VILLEROY & BOCH BOWL, a Nokia 6110
Navigator with a free 3 mobile service, and a
fabulous restaurant dinner was a fitting Thank You
Farewell for Flame intercessor, Cheryle Douglas who
moved to Melbourne due to husband John's work.
After graduating SMPOF and joining FMI,
Cheryle displayed a quiet passion for the Word of
God and prayer. Later, she joined the Intercessor's
Prayer Ministry and has been faithful participant
every Monday evening since then.
|

Farewell dinner.
|
Her
ability to plumb the Bible for its deeper historical
context and original language interpretations, made her the
right teacher for the Break Open the World sessions in the
Set My People on Fire seminars. Cheryle has also taught in
FMI's, When the Spirit Comes.
The Senior Directors, recognizing Cheryle's
giftedness, appointed her as a Regional Officer for
Melbourne. In due course, she will establish a team and
present Flame seminars. It is also envisaged that she will
establish an intercessory prayer group that will continue
her ministry in Victoria.
As much as Cheryle's special gifts of prophecy are
missed at the Thursday Praise Meetings and Ministry Days,
Cheryle remains faithful to intercessory prayer on Mondays:
alone in prayer, she times in with the Perth group and sends
her prophetic insights later that night by email to be
included in the Intercessor reports to the Senior Directors.
They are amazingly spot on.
Cheryle moderates the CPM Prayer Chain.

Millar
Lo moves on to Lifeteen USA.
|
|

|
THERE
IS NO DOUBT that Millar's multi-talent and
popping personality will be missed by everyone in
FMI. His creative guitar rhythms, drumming
technique and sound engineering skills added a
special flavor to the Flame Music Ministry's sound,
and to FMI as a whole.
Drawn to spread his wings, and to discover more
about the Church and ministry, Millar will join
Lifeteen in the USA and he goes with the blessing
of the Senior Directors. Everyone in Flame wishes
him joy and success in his new ventures. However,
knowing Millar as we do, we are sure we will all be
kept up to date on facebook and YouTube.

"I
have spoken with Lifeteen and they have accepted my
application to be part of the missionary
team."
- Dear
Flame People,
Although I am no longer an official member of Flame
Ministries International, I always think of you as
family. Please pray for me (prayer chain, novena,
etc) and Bernadette for our missions to be
successful.
Look at what FMI people are doing around the world, we
truly are an International Ministry. And I'll be honest
that I'm honored to have met each and every one of you,
been part of FMI family. I'll be taking you on a mission
with me to America (in finance support and spiritual
support).
I have spoken with Lifeteen and they have accepted my
application to be part of the missionary team. The only
reason I haven't broke the news before, is because I
don't have the money. But I am excited about going to
Arizona to be a Missionary in Media.
The program of this missionary very similar with people
in seminary with the only difference is when they study
(theology, philosophy, Latin, Church history, etc)
I'll be guided and formed in Media. All the others
daily routine (Divine Office Prayer,Daily Mass,
Adoration, spiritual mentor, etc) pretty much the
same like seminary. So in a sense I'm having a taste of
going to 'seminary' for a year.
I believe Media is one of the most important
evangelization tool that got not much support or
attention from local church (Although JPII says
otherwise). Please do pray for me too as money is a
huge problem at the moment. But I know somehow God will
provide it and I'll put my faith in that. -
Millar.

Derek
Williams moves on from Flame to pursue his own
ministry.
|
|

|
DEREK
WILLIAMS has been with Flame Ministries
International for around four years, and was
appointed by the Senior Directors as an FMI
Evangelist upon joining. During his time, Derek had
a huge impact upon parishes, groups, conferences
and individuals. His presentations of the Set My
People on Fire seminars and other Flame programs
around the UK have been outstanding. However, many
things in life are only for times and seasons, and
in Derek's case, it is the same.
|
After
much consideration, Derek, along with his wife, Lynne, have
decided to move on from Flame to pursue their own ministry.
This means that other members of his Regional Office in East
Anglia, Pat Brooks and Liz Gonzales, have also moved on. We
in Australia will miss Derek, and we wish him well and pray
for a bright future serving the Lord wherever he leads
him.

in East Anglia, and will be henceforth under his
auspices with the guidance of his spiritual
director, Fr David Keniry from the Birmingham
diocese. Derek commented, The bishop has
been fantastic and very supportive.
Derek is in the process of setting up a charity

David
Harp steps down as a Senior Director.
|
Since
returning from the USA in August 2007, David took time out
from FMI. He came back to Perth in January to fulfill
his engagements at the Arise Congress after which returned
to Darwin to continue spending time with his brother.
|

|
As
a result, communication with the Perth office was
sparse, and so made it difficult to fulfill his
duties as a Senior Director. In the meanwhile,
David secured a job with Virgin Blue and began
training that has taken him to Queensland and
Tasmania on several occasions.
With no likelihood that he would return to Perth
any time soon, it was agreed, that while remaining
a full member of FMI, David would resign his
position on the Board as a Senior Director. This
was effective on August 3rd to ensure the smooth
passage of the board's duties in the daily
operations of FMI. David was appointed as a
Senior Director in June 2006 with the approval and
acceptance of Archbishop Hickey.

The
New Hinduised Catholic Bible - A concern for the
fate of truth.
|
The
Heretical Indianised Catholic Bible: "I cannot accept it,
and will always oppose it" - Eddie Russell FMI
As with the totally compromised Philippine Community
Bible, the Indian bishops have also jumped to inculturate
the authentic Bible translations, supposedly to make it more
acceptable to Indians of all religions.
No doubt that the criteria for this compromise and
accommodation has been spurred on by the 12 Points of the
Indian Rite Mass; a Mass that allows certain Hindu
practices and rituals to be included. According to the
Vatican correspondent, Victor J.F. Kulanday's book, "The
Paganisation of the Church in India", this Rite was slipped
through the process to gain its approval. Now, the recent
approval of the New Indian Bible seems to be a progression
of the paganisation of the Church in India.
The interesting thing is that this Bible has been
approved in Kerala. This is where Saint Thomas the
Apostle established Christianity shortly after the
Resurrection. There has never been a problem with
Christianity in this area for 2000 years and the accepted
Bible has always been used until now. Given such a long
history and acceptance in Indian culture, this new
development is a serious concern for faith and truth.
Immanuel Kant, German idealist philosopher, 1724-1804
said, - I believe that the existence of the Bible
is the greatest benefit to the human race. Any attempt to
belittle it, I believe, is a crime against
humanity.
We couldn't agree more. - Eddie Russell FMI.
Now read the news report below and judge for
yourself.
- KOCHI-
An 'Indianised' Bible with references to the Upanishads,
Bhagavad Gita, Manusmriti and drawings of a turbaned
Joseph and sari clad Mother Mary with baby Jesus in her
arms, is making waves in Kerala.
This is an unprecedented venture as Indian scriptures
Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita and Mausmriti have been used in
a Bible by way of interpretations to biblical passages
for the first time, says Catholic church spokesperson
Father Paul Thelekat. This is an attempt to make
contextual reading and understanding.
There are 24 line drawings, including those of mosque,
temple and church with slippers outside, by the late
Christopher Coelho.
The Mumbai-based publishing house, St. Pauls, which
brings out religious books, has come out with the new
Indian Bible, which also has references to Meerabai,
Mahatma Gandhi, and Rabindranath Tagore in the
interpretations of biblical passages, Father Thelekat
said.
As far as Catholics are concerned, they have to live and
interpret their Christian faith and scriptures within the
given culture. So they have to understand and interpret
the culture, he said.
The New Community Bible is a revised edition of the
popular Christian Bible translated by Late Bernardo
Hurault, published from the Philippines. About 30
scholars have worked on it from 1980 and made the
interpretations which are published at the bottom part of
the Bible, Fr Thekekat said.
The text of the Bible is the accepted Catholic version,
whose interpretations are made with an Indian cultural
perspective.
Thiruvananthpuam Archbishop Sosa Pakiam, in his preface
to the Bible, says a unique feature of the new Bible is
that it has many references to the spiritual message and
biblical references to that of spiritual message and
biblical values found in the scriptures of other great
Indian religions.
The article, quoting Fr Augustine Kanachikuzhy, General
Editor of the new Bible, says the references and
quotations used in the Bible from non Christian
scriptures "does not imply in any way, the Indian
Scriptural terms are parallel to Biblical terms or that
the parallel references are saying the same thing as the
Biblical text".
Thelekat said while interpreting Treasure in Heaven of Mt
6:19.21, ...'this concept is found a classical expression
in the Bhagavad Gita's call to disinterested action:
'Work alone is your proper business never the fruits it
may produce" (2:47), or while commenting on the third
appearance of Jesus to disciples (John 21:1.14)...
The Lord ever stands on the shores of our life
every moment and every age, every day and every night he
comes, comes, ever comes' (Gitanjali XLV).
Indian texts are used to interpret not only the New
Testament, but also the Old Testament. The deluge story
of the Book of Genesis is interpreted with reference of
such stories in Mesopotamia and Satapath Brahmana
(1.8.1-10) and Mahabharata. In passages where the
Biblical interpretation differs from the Indian
scriptures, that fact is also made clear, Thelekat
said.
Over such 70 references to non Christian texts have been
made in the Bible and 30 scholars participated in making
the commentary, Fr Thelekat said.
"An attempt has been made to give a Bible which is more
relevant for India. There is nothing added or subtracted
from the text of the Bible, which has been reproduced as
such".
Bishop Thomas Dabre, Chairman of the Catholic Bishops
Conference of India (CBCI) gave the official no objection
certificate for publication of the Bible.
A Bible can be printed only after a non-objection
certificate and express permission to print is given by
the Mumbai Archbishop.
The
idea of an Indianised Bible was conceived in the 1980s after
Bernardo Hurault, a French priest in Chile, produced a
simple Spanish version with a commentary. His Christian
Community Bible of 1971 has been translated into French,
Filipino and Chinese and is used in South America, Africa
and Asia. http://www.ephesians-511.net/
Saint Jerome, Early Church Father and Doctor of the
Church, said that, "Ignorance of the Scripture, is ignorance
of Christ." I wonder therefore, which Christ and what
scriptures have inspired this new bible? - Eddie Russell

- 13 YEAR
OLD RAPE VICTIM STONED TO DEATH FOR BEING
RAPED.
MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) A 13-year-old girl who said
she had been raped was stoned to death in Somalia after
being accused of adultery by Islamic militants, a human
rights group said.
Dozens of men stoned Aisha Ibrahim Duhulow to death Oct.
27 in a stadium packed with 1,000 spectators in the
southern port city of Kismayo, Amnesty International and
Somali media reported, citing witnesses. The Islamic
militia in charge of Kismayo had accused her of adultery
after she reported that three men had raped her, the
rights group said.
Initial local media reports said Duhulow was 23, but her
father told Amnesty International she was 13. Some of the
Somali journalists who first reported the killing later
told Amnesty International that they had reported she was
23 based upon her physical appearance.
Calls to Somali government officials and the local
administration in Kismayo rang unanswered Saturday.
"This child suffered a horrendous death at the behest of
the armed opposition groups who currently control
Kismayo," David Copeman, Amnesty International's Somalia
campaigner, said in a statement Friday.
Somalia is among the world's most violent and
impoverished countries. The nation of some 8 million
people has not had a functioning government since
warlords overthrew a dictator in 1991 then turned on each
other.
A quarter of Somali children die before age 5; nearly
every public institution has collapsed. Fighting is a
daily occurrence, with violent deaths reported nearly
every day.
Islamic militants with ties to al-Qaida have been
battling the government and its Ethiopian allies since
their combined forces pushed the Islamists from the
capital in December 2006. Within weeks of being driven
out, the Islamists launched an insurgency that has killed
thousands of civilians.
In recent months, the militants appear to be gaining
strength. The group has taken over the port of Kismayo,
Somalia's third-largest city, and dismantled
pro-government roadblocks. They also effectively closed
the Mogadishu airport by threatening to attack any plane
using it.
INDONESIAN
MUSLIM CLERIC PLANS TO MARRY A SEVEN-YEAR-OLD
GIRL.
Jakarta - Agence France-Presse - October 28, 2008
07:04pm.
INDONESIAN police are investigating a wealthy Muslim
cleric who married a 12-year-old girl and is reportedly
planning to wed others aged seven and nine, a spokesman
said today.
Pujiono Cahyo Widiyanto, a 43-year-old businessman and
cleric from the Central Java city of Semarang, has
courted nationwide controversy over his decision to marry
the girl, who comes from a poor family.
Mr Widiyanto has defended the marriage, which is his
second, saying the girl had already reached puberty.
"We are investigating the case. We are now gathering
witnesses and then we'll look for evidence on what laws
the man might have broken, and we'll follow up from
there," national police spokesman Abubakar Nataprawira
said.
The Jakarta Post daily reported Mr Widiyanto could be
charged under a 2002 child protection law for forcing or
trading a child into sex and for marrying below the legal
minimum age of 16.
Child protection activists have also called for Mr
Widiyanto to be charged with child trafficking.
"I'm very concerned, disappointed and angry. Such cases
often happen in the villages where daughters are married
off young because their families are facing economic
troubles," Seto Mulyadi, chairman of the national child
protection commission, said.
Mr Widiyanto has been backed by some high-profile Muslim
figures, including Hilman Rosyad Syihab, the deputy head
of the Islam-based Prosperous Justice Party (PKS),
according to the Detikcom online news service.
Islam allows for marriage regardless of whether a girl
has reached sexual maturity, Mr Syihab was quoted as
saying.
"It is not a problem under Islamic law," Mr Syihab
said.
Detikcom also said Mr Widiyanto is planning to marry two
more girls aged seven and nine.
Nearly 90 per cent of Indonesia's 234 million people are
Muslim, most of whom practise a moderate strain of the
religion.

Australia
- A free country, or just free to do as you are
told?
|
- AUSTRALIA
TO GET INTERNET CENSORSHIP LIKE CHINA, NORTH KOREA, CUBA
AND IRAN: SO MUCH FOR A FREE
COUNTRY.
THE Federal Government is planning to make internet
censorship compulsory for all Australians and could ban
controversial websites on euthanasia or anorexia.
Australia's level of net censorship will put it in the
same league as countries including China, Cuba, Iran and
North Korea, and the Government will not let users opt
out of the proposed national internet filter when it is
introduced.
Broadband, Communications and Digital Economy Minister
Stephen Conroy admitted the Federal Government's $44.2
million internet censorship plan would now include two
tiers - one level of mandatory filtering for all
Australians and an optional level that will provide a
"clean feed", censoring adult material.
Despite planning to hold "live trials" before the end of
the year, Senator Conroy said it was not known what
content the mandatory filter would bar, with euthanasia
or pro-anorexia sites on the chopping block.
"We are talking about mandatory blocking, where possible,
of illegal material," he told a Senate Estimates
Committee.
Previously the net nanny proposal was going to allow
Australians who wanted uncensored access to the web the
option to contact their internet service provider and be
excluded from the service.
Groups including the System Administrators Guild of
Australia and Electronic Frontiers Australia have slammed
the proposal, saying it would unfairly restrict
Australians' access to the web, slow internet speeds and
raise the price of internet access.
EFA board member Colin Jacobs said it would have little
effect on illegal internet content, including child
pornography, as it would not cover peer-to-peer
file-sharing networks.
"If the Government would actually come out and say we're
only targeting child pornography it would be a different
debate," he said.
But the Australian Christian Lobby yesterday welcomed the
Government's proposals.
Its managing director Jim Wallace said he expected
resistance from the industry but the measures were
needed.
"The need to prevent access to illegal hard-core material
and child pornography must be placed above the industry's
desire for unfettered access," Mr Wallace said.
